International Church Official to Help
Dedicate Presbyterian Mission Center

Bagpipes, balloons, multicultural music featured at open house

IRVING, Texas – An international church official with Texas roots, the Rev. Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick, will help lead the dedication ceremony during the open house for the new Presbyterian Mission Center, Sunday afternoon, 3-4:30, April 2 at 6100 Colwell Blvd. in Irving.

Kirkpatrick is the president of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, executive committee member of the World Alliance of Churches and the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly for the Presbyterian Church (USA).

People of all denominations and faiths are welcome to the event which culminates the partnership of four faith-based agencies which serve North Texans and people throughout four states. More than 200 Presbyterians and friends are expected at the event near the Movie Studios of Las Colinas.

Balloons, bagpipes and instrumental music groups will delight visitors as they tour the facility. The four Presbyterian congregations of Irving are providing refreshments and hospitality for the celebration.

The Presbyterian Mission Center, while primarily an office building, features a chapel and conference facilities to serve the membership and mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Three agencies combined funds and with the help of many donors, purchased the two-story brick office complex at 6100 Colwell Blvd. in Irving. Grace Presbytery and Synod of the Sun, regional denominational bodies have already moved in. Both groups needed new homes when the suggestion to partner with more Presbyterian entities arose.

Texas Presbyterian Foundation helped lead the partnership and will move into the building at a later date. od stewardship. Starting with an idea and no major funding the partners raised more than $4 million later and purchased a building six months later. Extensive build-out to the interior has just been completed.

A fourth agency, Faith Hospice, will be a substantial and growing tenant of the Presbyterian Mission Center.
